Family Auto Service - La Mesa
I do 99.9% of my own auto maintenance, so I don't have a regular shop I go to. Â I am not afraid of working on anything, but I don't have all the diagnostic equipment to get a few things done. Â Even then, I will sometimes still give it a shot.My 34" Class A RV wouldn't pass smog due to failing the evaporative emissions portion. Â I know what that involves, but didn't feel like just replacing everything and hoping for the best, then taking it to the smog place again and again. Â Just a pain to drive the darn thing around town! Not many places near me have the room to work on an RV, so Bowen's was the first local place to come up on a Google search as RV friendly. Â I made an appointment the afternoon prior and dropped it off the next morning. Â I got a call in the afternoon updating me on the repairs needed and approximate cost of parts. Â A few hours later it was ready for pick up. Â My wife picked it up, heard no complaints from her.All in all it seemed like a good interaction with them, they were friendly and quick with the repair. Â I got a cup of coffee in the morning. Â I think the parts were priced about three times what I could get them for, and in the end my hunch was correct and they replaced exactly what I would have. Â I didn't have time to keep changing parts and bringing it to the smog place so I guess the money I spent was worth it to just be done with it. Â A home mechanic is probably the hardest to please at a repair shop.
