Fun Family-Friendly Road Trip Ideas For Spring Break

With so many family-friendly places to go, how do you choose? Well, here are a few of our favorite trips to take with our families around California that are sure to leave you with many good memories for years to come. So many of us decide to jump on a plane to go on an adventure. However, our backyard is a playground filled with many amazing places to explore together.

Palm Springs is a dreamy place to take your family for spring break; you can spend your time with family outdoors and not feel too chilled or hot from the desert heat this time of year. If your family wants to take a dip, they have plenty of pools to choose from. There are fantastic golf courses, and of course, a great day trip is to the Joshua Tree National Park. Surrounding towns such as Rancho Mirage, Indian Springs, and Palm Desert are great little towns to explore if you run out of ideas. However, you won't want to miss the living desert museum while you are there, so be sure to bring a sun hat and plenty of water on this adventure.

Monterey and Santa Cruz are nearby and offer families a lot to do during spring break. Just a short journey from San Francisco Bay, these two cities have famous beach boardwalks, and such a laid-back beach feel to them that you can't help but enjoy your kiddos while spending spring break together. The Redwood forest is a short drive away, and you can hop aboard the railway car at Roaring Camp Railroad to go for a ride through the forest. Featuring the best aquarium in the world, Monterey is worthy of a stop through on your family adventure. If you decide to take a slight detour, you are sure to enjoy Carmel-by-the-sea. It is one of those quaint seaside towns worth a visit.

San Diego is a hit year-round, so scheduling a visit there during spring break is sure to make your family happy. Spending a day at Sea World and the San Diego Zoo can fill an entire weekend, and then there is the rest of what San Diego has to offer. Your kiddos are sure to enjoy spending a day at Legoland, what a cool place to visit as an alternative to Disneyland.

And that brings us to Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. Knowing that Disneyland is busy year-round, means visiting over spring break won't be much different than coming any other time of the year. If you plan it right, you can hit up to 20 rides in a single day. It is ambitious, I know. However, it can be done. So depending on your family, you can choose to take Disneyland a little slower and enjoy just a few rides and some of the happiest memories a family can make.
